Apply To: https://bit.ly/32nzB4u or ColonialCareers.com The Controller is responsible for maximizing the return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting and financial reporting functions. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that ensures company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, US GAAP, OCC, and investor requirements. The Controller will also oversee the accounting department. Responsibilities include: • Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure • Coordinate, analyze and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections and other special projects as required) • Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties • Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms performance • Develop, implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures for a wide-ranging set of activities including financial accounting and reporting • Proficiency in all aspects of corporate accounting and all pertinent GAAP, OCC rules and regulations including Agency requirements • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring and enforcing policies and procedures • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring and enforcing internal controls • Provides status of financial condition of the company by collecting, interpreting and reporting key financial data • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports • Advises management of actions and potential risks • Arranges for audits as required and appropriate • Manages budget and controls expenses • Hires, trains, develops and appraises team • Keep up-to-date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation and ensure compliance • Other duties as assigned

Candidate Requirements

• 15+ years’ experience in public accounting/mortgage/banking • 10+ years’ experience in managing an accounting team • CPA certification required • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls and financial reporting required • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting • Master’s degree in business, financial or related field preferred • Mortgage experience preferred • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions • Strong technology, organizational, and analytical skills • Ability to direct and motivate employees • Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic fast paced working environment • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook This position offers a full range of benefits including Health, Dental, and 401k, Equal Opportunity Employer, M/F/Disability/Vet.
