Since its founding in 1929, the Fort Worth Chapter has been led by volunteers: CPAs who contribute time and talent to advance the profession. Professional staff have made contributions to the Chapter's success as well.
At the Chapter's 2018-2019 annual meeting, president Brandon Booker announced that executive director Kathy Kelly, who's held the post since 1998, will retire May 31, 2019. A succession planning effort has been underway for several months, and Michelle Barton, CPA, has been selected to assume the position. The transition will be celebrated May 28 at the Chapter's annual year end mixer at Joe T. Garcia's.
Kelly is the Chapter's third executive director. During her tenure, the Chapter advanced its technological capabilities, refined its physical presence with new offices in the Cultural District, developed and implemented three-year strategic plans, and expanded or continued programs benefiting members, their firms and employers: professional accounting image enhancement, career awareness, advocacy, continuing education and leadership development programs.
Barton, right, has been a member of the Chapter staff team, and a CPA member of the Texas Society of CPAs, since 2014. As lead for accounting and administration, and in staffing various committee and program functions, she has a deep understanding of the Chapter’s technology and resources and, most importantly, its members.
She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (BBA, 2003) and the University of Texas at Arlington (MBA, 2010). She is a member of TSAE and actively involved in her children’s school and athletic activities.
